Patient conversations - Diabetes case - some comedy, some learning

P (Patient): Thank you ma'am, the sugar reading has come down to around 190-200 after applying your therapy chart, last 2-3 weeks. (Shows recorded readings)

SW (Swaadhin Wellness): 200 is still high

P: Ma'am my reading has come down to this range after many months, earlier it was around 250 or more.

SW : Okay, keep applying therapy it shall come down further

P: It will not come down further, I know.

SW: Why do you say so?

P: Because my sugar reading never goes below 180-190, I have been Diabetic for more than 10 years, and took several medicines, Ma'am.

SW: Okay, do you eat sugar? What's your diet schedule like?

P: No Ma'am, I don't eat sugar.
I have morning tea around 8 am, then regular South Indian breakfast before going to shop.
Rice, sambhar, 'palya' around 2:30 pm for lunch and tea without sugar around 4:30 pm.
After work, I eat chapati or rice and vegetable in dinner around 9:00 pm. That's my routine most often unless there's some celebration.

SW: Is your morning tea without sugar?

P: Yes, but in the morning I add sugar free.

SW: Do you eat anything along with tea?

P: Ma'am only 2-3 biscuits I take

SW: Next time, avoid the biscuits and do not add sugar-free to your tea and then measure the reading, okay?

P: Ok Ma'am

Next visit within 3-4 days

P: Ma'am my sugar reading came around 150, I am surprised
The only change I made was not to add sugar-free or take biscuits along with tea in the morning.

I never knew Ma'am sugar-free affects sugar readings.
I have been taking it from so many years.

SW: Biscuits were also causing your blood sugar reading to rise.

P: Yes Ma'am, a few small biscuits and 40 units sugar difference, I am amazed and very happy.

SW: Great, avoid these going further. You yourself eat sugar and then medicines for that.

P: Yes of course Ma'am. I never realized before, thank you so much 😊🙏
