Fasting during monsoon

There is an ancient tradition of fasting during 'Saawan' month of Hindu calendar. This maps in monsoon, between July, August timeframe of English calendar. This is considered a suitable time, for multiple reasons for example:
-digestive power is slightly reduced
- less activity possible due to rain
-food needs are comparatively less
-the weather is not harsh but moderate so body can take fast comfortably etc.

The idea of fasting in this month is actually good for health of body, mind and spirit.
Many Hindus take weekly fast on Mondays, during this month, as guided by religion. Some people also fast or restrict few foods for entire month. This is again deeply thoughtful for health reasons as per ancient & Ayurvedic guidance.
Anyone looking for detoxification or maintaining good health, (whether Hindu or not) may plan a minimum of 2-4 fast, during this time.
